Snodland, Second Independent Chapel

A replacement for the first Independent Chapel at Snodland was begun in the autumn of 1854 and was consecrated on Good Friday, 6 April 1855. This was supported by William Joynson (a former paper mill manager, who had moved to St Mary Cray). In 1888 this chapel was replaced by the present building in the High Street and it was bought by the Hook family to become the infant department of the adjacent British Schools. With the closure of those schools in 1930 a variety of uses was found for it until it was demolished in 1997.
