Aylesford, the Friars

Aylesford, the Friars. The Carmelite Order was established here in 1242. At the Dissolution of the Monasteries the buildings came into private hands and it was not until 1949 that the Carmelites were able to buy the property again. The Friars is now an important place of pilgrimage.
