Farming the Hardwick Estate
Farming the Hardwick Estate
A rare survival in north-east Derbyshire, a cruck-framed cottage at Heath, probably built in the 16th century. The cottage was among the many on the estate carefully modernised during the 6th duke's campaign of improvement. One of the crucks that forms the original timber-framed structure can be seen in the end wall.
