Mounts Bay and its ports before 1600

Mount's Bay was a major trading area with five ports in the 14th century. The oldest of these ports was Marazion, which originated from the 11th century. Mousehole, Newlyn and Penzance appeared two centuries later. Porthplement, a lost port between Marazion and Penzance soon after that. Throughout their history - there was a rivalry between these ports with each seeking to dominate trade in Mount's Bay.
