Gwennap Crosses

Crosses from around Gwennap. Gwennap parish is an inland parish, situated between the towns of Redruth and Truro. It has strong links with Methodism – John Wesley preached here to huge crowds in the 18th century. It is also an area which had a large number of mines, although most closed down in the 20th century. Gwennap was split to form several new parishes: St Day in 1833 and Lanner in 1845.
