Dulverton Laundry and former silk mill

North front of Dulverton Laundry

DULVERTON LAUNDRY

The laundry is based in an early 19th-century three-storey mill, where silk crepe was manufactured for over 30 years. It has been added to and altered but the modern windows probably occupy the position of the originals. Large windows were necessary to provide year-round light for the looms. A few early leaded wooden casements survive on the top floor.

The mill leat runs under the eastern end of the building and formerly drove a large water wheel.
