St Keverne

The parish church of St Keverne is dedicated to St Akeveranus. There was a church here before the Norman Conquest. The church today lies on a square and dominates the village of St Keverne. Most of the surviving building is 15th century and It is mainly in the Perpendicular style.  It has a two staged unbuttressed tower with has an octagonal and ribbed spire, which was rebuilt following a storm of 1770. The spire is a useful landmark for ships trying to navigate the dangerous Manacles Reef, nearby.

Inside, on the north wall,  it has a rare surviving medieval wall painting of St Christopher, and scenes from the life of the saint. The church also has some nicely carved bench ends.
