St Keira's Church, Egloskerry

The church of St Keira is located in the middle of the village of Egloskerry. Some of the Norman church remains – the north wall, north transcept, north and south doorways. In the tympanum (semi circular area) above the north doorway there is a dragon snapping at its tail. In the tympanum above the south door is a stone carving of a Lamb passant (a holy lamb in walking position, carrying the banner of St George) which was discovered following the church’s restoration in the 19th century.
