Simi Chowdhry

Simi Chowdhry is a Sikh. She was born in India in 1950 and came to Bristol in 1968, after graduating from Delhi University in India. Her father was director of civil aviation and the family lived at various times in Bombay and Delhi.

Simi has dedicated 25 years of her life to the empowerment of and development of South Asian communities and women in particular, helping them to escape the effects of social and economic deprivation. Simi trained and became a youth worker and in 1971.
