Redcliffe Parade

These eighteenth century houses were owned by wealthy merchants and others during the eighteenth century. One of the families living there was that of merchant Thomas King who traded for palm oil, ivory and redwood, but was not a slave trader. Many of his ships were built in the Sydenham Teast shipyards (Merchant's Wharf) across the water from his home.
