Newlyn Pubs and Inns
By the mid 18th century Newlyn was prospering because of the fishing industry and landlords were investing in new property. There were six or more inns in Newlyn including Tocarene Inn, and probably the Wheatsheaf, at Tolcarne, the Fisherman's Arms and Red Lion at Newlyn Town. Also by 1775, the old mansion house of the Bosons had became Edward Tregurtha's tavern. Another merchant house - the Balconey - became the Navy Inn.
