Madron Well and Chapel

Madron well chapel named after the saint of the nearby parish church, it was visited in the 16th and 17th centuries by people in search of healing. The saint, originally named Madern, is wholly unknown and was so even in the Middle Ages when the best that could be done was to identify him with St Paternus.
