Italians in Bristol

Since at least the time of John Cabot, Italians have been resident in Bristol. In the 18th century a number of traders and artisans travelled from Tuscany. The mid-19th century census records Neopolitan musicians in Silver Street in Bristol. A century later Italian ice-cream makers and restauranteurs became a feature of Bristol life and were increasingly joined by a wide range of people including academics.
