The Houftons

At his death in 1929 Sir John Plowright Houfton was described as 'a great public man' with a 'long and distinguished association with the Bolsover Colliery Company'. But J.P. Houfton also had a younger cousin - Percy Bond Houfton - who became an architect after his earlier years of employment in the Bolsover Colliery Company office. Together the two Houftons have left a lasting legacy in the Bolsover area. In this section you can read about their achievements.
