Bolsover Colliery Company

The Bolsover Colliery Company was established in 1890 and initially sank a colliery to the Deep Hard coal at Bolsover. Later in the 1890s it opened another colliery a few miles to the north at Creswell. From c.1900 the company developed four collieries in Nottinghamshire and in the inter-war period was the third largest coal producing concern in Great Britain. The company's six collieries and associated assets were vested in the National Coal Board in 1947 and the company was wound up soon afterwards.
