Avonmouth Dispute of 1962

In 1962, Avonmouth Dockers refused to work with any 'coloured' labour resulting in the dismissal of some 60 'coloured workers.' One of them Roy Alexander Wright, a Jamaican immigrant, was said to have assaulted his white foreman, Reginald William Bell preciptating, a 'general melee between white and coloured workers'.
