The Americans at Codford

Although (as in the First World War) many regiments of British Servicemen were garrisoned at Codford, during the Second World War they were also joined in 1943 by servicemen from the American Third Armoured Brigade. New camps were built nearby the old First World War camps. The Americans were stationed at A Camp and and B Camp and Cherry Orchard Camp just north of the High Street.
